The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has awarded C3M a contract for the Blue Line Rail Power Systems Upgrades project in the Washington, DC Metro Area.
C3M will supply and install electrical equipment at 7 tie breaker stations (TBS) and 7 traction power sub-stations (TPSS) to accommodate the additional power capacity required for WMATA’s transition from 6-car to 8-car trains. The project team will replace high-voltage alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) switchgears, rectifier transformers and rectifiers, voltage regulators, bus duct, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and lighting fixtures. Additionally, C3M will procure and install 34 rectifier transformers and 8 auxiliary transformers located at TPSS within the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
Construction is underway and completion is slated for December 2021.
